The Mystery of the Ugly Bottle by author David R ChristensenThis is the second book in the series The Millerville Mysteries written for 8-12 yr old age group.

For years, Jeremy’s father has spent months at a time searching for gold just off the coast of Louisiana. His intention was to discover treasure of sufficient value to pay off the mortgage owed on his father’s estate.

Just as he discovers such a prize, a hurricane slams into the coast and he is lost at sea. Before the boat capsizes, he hurriedly writes notes to his wife, father, and son.

Jeremy discovers a hidden message in his note and embarks on a search for valuables Father has already found and hid somewhere on the estate. He invites his sister, Jennie, and their friends, Mike and Brandon (read The Mystery of the Grinning Buddha), to help.

They must first find a certain peg which could be anywhere on Grandfather Miller’s property. The peg will direct them down the path which leads to the treasure. There is a race against time, and two strangers constantly seem to get in the way.

Jeremy, who is more comfortable keeping a back seat to action, finds himself taking the lead in the search.
